Who needs an IVF treatment?

Couples who have failed to conceive after having tried for at least 12 months if the woman is under the age of 35, and for 6 months if the woman is over 35. Additionally, if the woman does not regularly Ovulate she might want to consider an assisted reproductive treatment. In all the above 3 cases she is considered to be infertile.

Does IVF pose potential health risks?

IVF treatment is safe and medical complications are rare. Physical complications that need hospital treatment happen to about one in 100 women going through a stimulated IVF cycle which uses hormone medications to stimulate the Ovaries.

At what age is IVF suitable?

The ideal age range for a woman to undergo IVF is typically between 20 to 35 years old. Even with assisted reproductive technology, the likelihood of having a healthy Pregnancy and giving birth to a living child reduces as one's age increases.

How many times can one try IVF?

Each case is unique, there are a number of parameters that play a role here such as age of the woman, clinical profile of the patient, previous response to IVF cycle and financial factors. Ideally, IVF can be attempted 3-4 times.

What are the 5 stages of IVF?

The 5 stages of the IVF Process are:

  • ☉ Medication. Injecting hormones to stimulate healthy egg development
  • ☉ Harvest the eggs
  • ☉ Fertilisation
  • ☉ Embryo culture
  • ☉ Embryo transfer

What is the duration of IVF injections?

With an IVF cycle, you'll take medication usually as injections for eight to 14 days to encourage the follicles in your Ovaries (where the eggs grow) to produce more eggs. Our specialist will prescribe medication specific to your body and treatment plan.

Does IVF have a 100% success rate?

The success rate of IVF is about 50% in women below the age of 35. As the age increases, the chances of success go down. At times Ovaries don't respond to the injections and medications during an Ovary stimulation process. Due to this reason, IVF can fail sometimes. However, one can try multiple IVF cycles.
